At the official launching of the application at Sheraton Hotel, Lagos, the Chairman, Winners Golden Chance Lotto, and the former chairman of Onigbongbo local government, Hon. Idowu Obasa, said unlike the past where lottery is played manually, the application will help the lottery agents and cashiers to save valuable hours collating results and picking winners.
He added that the new innovation will also afford individuals who might not want to come out openly to play lotto, the opportunity to play it in their various homes using their phones and computers.
"Today, we are presenting the results of 20years of research, some already well acquired by everybody and some still exclusive to our company. We realized that in spite of the marvel of the POS, there are out there, millions of potential customers who still lacked access to play for various reasons, some because they want privacy and some because they want to play with their own devices," he said.
The Chairman added that the application, was developed by three staffs of the company. He however said that what was not available in other companies was the exclusivity to play online in its agents' shops.
"We have developed an app, which can be downloaded by our agents, and which will now allow all their customers to play online, thereby widening the scope of possibilities for the staker in a country like Nigeria where access means having several options," Obasa added.
As a way of rewarding hardworking agents of the company, five highest selling agents were rewarded with a trip to Dubai with their spouses. One of them is Oluwafemi Adejuwon of Ikeja branch who has the highest sales nationwide.
In his speech, the General Manager, Lagos State Lottery Board, Mr. Lanre Gbajabiamila, commended the company for the innovation and promised the support of the state government in using technology to advance the lotto business.
